"We Love Our Customers" Sale

There are all sorts of things to love about February - its closer to spring; the days are getting noticeably longer; the Toeterville fish fry; giving chocolate to your husband for Valentine's Day knowing he will share it with you; and it is time for Home Sweet Home's "We Love Our Customers" SALE! Starting this Friday, February 10th and running through Tuesday, February 14th, everything in our store is 20% off! We have been busy unpacking boxes and unloading freight trucks and changing things up at the shop. Can't wait for you to see all the exciting new stuff. (Some of the new stuff is actually old stuff (antiques), found objects, and repurposed items.) Another good reason to visit us - Judy is making her cut-out cookies! Yummy! Please come join us for this heart-warming event.

Small Business Saturday

First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday. Now, there is Small Business Saturday on November 26th - the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This event was started by American Express last year to promote a day when we "shop small", coming together to celebrate America's small businesses. This is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. To encourage people to shop our small town on that day, the retail businesses in St. Ansgar are also having a drawing for $50 in chamber dollars. Anyone who makes a purchase on that day (and Sunday, November 27th) can enter their name into the drawing to win. Home Sweet Home, as well as many of St. Ansgar's other businesses, will also be having in-store promotions. So let us offer you small-town friendliness and great customer service and free gift wrapping and easy parking and carryout service with no pushing or shoving or long lines. Thank you for making us part of you busy shopping weekend plans!

2011 Holiday Open House

Did you know there are less than 60 days til Christmas? Lots to do from now til then. We hope the first thing on your list is to come to Home Sweet Home's Holiday Open House! It's our 28th Christmas here. We enjoy reminiscing about the past years - remembering the hot items and different trends. But it is you wonderful people that really make this all so much fun! We hope you can join us to help celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. The events tab list our extended hours. We have so much to show you!

Burlap

One of the things we are seeing more and more of in home decorating is the use of burlap. For some reason it reminds me of good 'ol farm living. I have lived my entire life on a farm and have the best childhood memories of growing up right next to my Grandpa and Grandma. Burlap is woven from the fibers of the jute plant, and once was best known as the material used for making seed bags. Today, burlap is showing up all over the place. Home Sweet Home has lamp shades, pillows, table runners, cloth pieces, wrapped candles, organizer bags and just plain fun really big bags all made from burlap. Burlap is even showing up in wall art which gives it a great textured look. We would love to show you in person, so please come see us! (Just a reminder-Home Sweet Home is open on Thursdays til 7:00 pm.)

Fall Festival Time

This is the week... for Fall Fest in St. Ansgar! We are so excited that we are celebrating for three days starting Thursday, Sept. 8th and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 10th. Our extended hours for those days are listed on the events page. All merchandise at Home Sweet Home will be 20% off! This includes everything!

Saturday is the day the vendors are in town selling their goods. A wonderful variety of vendors have signed up to attend this year’s event including pottery, barn quilts, hand-crafted jewelry, paintings, woodcrafts, braided rugs, hand-made cards, barbed wire art, wood burning, and garden art. Also, repurposed and vintage items, primitives, paper items, girly gear (bows, hats, & scarves), handmade soaps and lotions will also be available. Several home-based businesses will be represented. Food vendors include Olde Thyme Kettle Corn and Sweet Tooth, a cupcake vendor. Seasonal goods including pumpkins, gourds, squash, and mums will be available.

The weatherman predicts a beautiful week and we really hope that you have a chance to come visit us and see why we are so proud of our little town and all it has to offer.
