Burlap

One of the things we are seeing more and more of in home decorating is the use of burlap. For some reason it reminds me of good 'ol farm living. I have lived my entire life on a farm and have the best childhood memories of growing up right next to my Grandpa and Grandma. Burlap is woven from the fibers of the jute plant, and once was best known as the material used for making seed bags. Today, burlap is showing up all over the place. Home Sweet Home has lamp shades, pillows, table runners, cloth pieces, wrapped candles, organizer bags and just plain fun really big bags all made from burlap. Burlap is even showing up in wall art which gives it a great textured look. We would love to show you in person, so please come see us! (Just a reminder-Home Sweet Home is open on Thursdays til 7:00 pm.)

Fall Festival Time

This is the week... for Fall Fest in St. Ansgar! We are so excited that we are celebrating for three days starting Thursday, Sept. 8th and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 10th. Our extended hours for those days are listed on the events page. All merchandise at Home Sweet Home will be 20% off! This includes everything!

Saturday is the day the vendors are in town selling their goods. A wonderful variety of vendors have signed up to attend this year’s event including pottery, barn quilts, hand-crafted jewelry, paintings, woodcrafts, braided rugs, hand-made cards, barbed wire art, wood burning, and garden art. Also, repurposed and vintage items, primitives, paper items, girly gear (bows, hats, & scarves), handmade soaps and lotions will also be available. Several home-based businesses will be represented. Food vendors include Olde Thyme Kettle Corn and Sweet Tooth, a cupcake vendor. Seasonal goods including pumpkins, gourds, squash, and mums will be available.

The weatherman predicts a beautiful week and we really hope that you have a chance to come visit us and see why we are so proud of our little town and all it has to offer.
